What is Spiritual Healing?

In a recent essay, I described the Modern Order of Essenes as a “system of spiritual healing”. Of course, this raises the question what I mean by “spiritual healing”… 😉

Thus in today’s essay, I’m going to explain my understanding of this term. My hope is that this will not just better help you understand some of my other essays (and, of course, the Modern Order of Essenes), but also that it will lead you to develop your own understanding of what spiritual healing could be for you.

(And just to be clear: What I’m laying out here is my personal understanding of this term at the current time. I don’t presume to proclaim an unfailing truth, nor do I expect you to see things the same way!)

Viewing Yourself Through a Different Lens

With this post, we’re setting out into a new series of essays, a series which I hope will be both interesting and useful to you.

One of my plans for this year is to publish more regularly on The Hidden Things – preferably about topics which I enjoy, and which I hope you will enjoy just as much. This new series is the start into this endavour, and it covers some out-of-the-way ground, namely an obscure approach to “improving” yourself and your life.

Of course, I’m not just covering this approach here because it’s far outside the mainstream, but also because it’s ground which deserves to be covered, and which I think could be helpful to a lot of people.

Before we dive into what exactly this topic is, though, let me first explain what I mean by “improving yourself and your life”.

What is the Modern Order of Essenes?

Occasionally, somebody asks me what the Modern Order of Essenes is. And despite being a Master Teacher, I have found this question surprisingly difficult to answer (at least within less than 10 minutes of explanation).

The most concise reply I can give is “It’s a system of spiritual healing.” – but that immediately raises the question what I mean by the term “spiritual healing”.

Obviously, I need a bit more space than just one sentence to get the gist across (and maybe even a second essay to talk about spiritual healing, but let’s cross that bridge later, shall we?). But I think the question deserves an answer. So let me dive right in:

Lessons from a Year of Blessings

A few weeks ago, one of the regulars noticed that we were rapidly approaching a full year of blessings – and he asked if I’d consider writing a bit about “a year of giving blessings”.

I think this is a great idea, if nothing else then to celebrate the past year and all the blessings it has brought me and, hopefully, you as well. I’m not quite sure I have that many interesting things to write about, though, but I’ll give it a try and let you be the judge… 😉

(Btw, if you have no idea what I’m talking about in the first place: I perform a formal blessing ceremony each Wednesday in which I bless everybody who has signed up that week. You’ll find the most current signup option here.)

Back when I put the first offer for a formal blessing online, I had no idea what would come out of it. To be honest, I still don’t really know what will come out of it, but I can at least see a bit clearer now. Back then, I wasn’t sure how things would go, and I had no clue how long I would even offer these blessings. My thought was that I’d give it a try for a few weeks, and then re-evaluate. MOE Master Attunement on Sunday, January 19th 2025

UPDATE: Since nobody has confirmed their participation, I will not perform the attunement today. I will most likely offer an Apprentice attunement in March. Please keep an eye on this space or on JMG’s Magic Mondays for the announcement.

+++ IMPORTANT: I will only perform the attunement at one or both of these time slots if at least one person per slot RSVPs by Saturday 6pm my time, i.e. by Saturday noon EST! +++

I am going to offer a Master attunement for the Modern Order of Essenes on Sunday, 19th of January 2025, at 10 am and/or 6pm German time (i.e. EST+6) – if at least one person replies to let me know they‘ll participate at the respective time.

The attunement is open to everybody who has studied all the MOE material for the Master grade, practices regularly, has received the Apprentice and Healer attunements, and fulfills the requirements. Note that you need to practice certain things daily for at least a week beforehand, so make sure to study the requirements well in advance!
