Welcome back to Unit 4 of the Modern Order of Essenes course! If you are new to the course, it starts out here with Unit 1.
In this unit, you will expand both the Blessing Walk and the Healing Breath meditation, and we will also dive a bit further into the topic of spiritual healing, and its distinction from physical healing.
Again, you can dive right into the course content this week. ๐ But if possible, I would greatly appreciate feedback about the Blessing Walk in both its variants. Whatever you find noteworthy about it is of interest to me. Thanks!
Also, as was to be expected, the comment section has become a bit quieter… I hope this is due to the fact that you’re busy practicing, and not that you’re not able to follow along! ๐
Either way, I would also appreciate feedback about the course so far: Are you able to follow along ok? Do you need more time, or a slower pace? Or a faster pace? Or anything else?
I have mapped out the rest of the lessons, but haven’t written them yet – I can still change things if necessary, but for this I need to know how things are going for you. ๐
Coursework
- To Practice – Essene Healing Breath: Step 2
Step 2 of the Essene Healing Breath is about breathing, and about deepening your relaxation. It should be practiced as part of the full sequence, i.e. first a cleansing/banishing ritual, then step 1, step 2, and finally the withdrawal:
Online Version (Section “Phase One: Step Two – Breathe deeply & rhythmically”)
PDF Version (Section “Phase One: Step Two – Breathe deeply & rhythmically” on page 18) - To Practice – Blessing Walk, Step 3 (after the first week)
Your third task in this unit is to include Step 3 into your daily Blessing Walk – not right away, but only when about one week of this unit has passed! A mid-unit assignment, so to speak. ๐
Online Version (only Step 1, 2 and 3)
PDF Version (only Step 1, 2 and 3, on pages 11 and 12) - To Study – “On Spiritual Healing”
Read the part “On Spiritual Healing”, and be sure to understand what it means for you, in your jurisdiction, and your personal situation:
Online Version (only the section titled “On Spiritual Healing”)
PDF Version (only the section titled “On Spiritual Healing” on pages 9 and 10, up to “will not help you avoid legal prosecution.”. The rest of the text under this section heading seems to be a copy/paste error from the “Introductory Lecture” you’ already studied in Unit 2.)
Reflection Question
While you do the work of Unit 4, take some time to reflect on the following question:
How can you heal through the heart?
Meditation Topics
If you need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- Why do you bless plants?
- What effect does a blessing have on plants?
- Do plants bless you?
- Are there any differences between blessing humans, animals, and plants?
- On which levels can healing take place?
- On which levels can you heal yourself?
- On which levels can you heal others??
- Why are there legal or other restrictions to healing on certain levels?
- And why are these restrictions not the same everywhere?
- Which restrictions would you put on healing, and why?
- What does breathing do in meditation?
- How can breathing add to relaxation?
- What are the potential effects of breathing in different ways?
- How can you breathe in divine energies?
- How can you breathe out toxins?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Thankfully, there isn’t all that much to comment on this week!
By now, you know the drill, and most of the basic questions around the Blessing Walk and Healing Breath have been covered in previous units. And if there are any which haven’t, well, you know how to write a comment, don’t you? ๐
Thus, this section will be a quick read in today’s unit…
Blessing Walk – How to Practice Step 3
Well, together with Steps 1 and 2, of course! ๐
Kidding aside, to the extent that this is possible, you should indeed include all three steps in each Blessing Walk from now on – or rather, from about one week into this unit.
The reason I’m asking you to wait for one week before you tackle Step 3 is simply to give you one more week of practice time. We have enough time to invest three weeks into each new step, so you can well make good use of it.
As for which way to practice Step 3, through the mind-based approach or the heart-centered: Well, that’s up to you. I don’t have enough data yet to prefer one over the other in terms of results. But by now, you should have practiced both and know which one works better for you – simply go with that one!
(Of course, you can also merrily combine them in any way, if this is what works best for you..)
Healing Breath Meditation: Reminder
There isn’t much to say about this next step of the Healing Breath meditation, methinks. The instructions are fairly straightforward.
One small reminder, though: Always practice all steps – including the withdrawal phase. Coming back from your meditation in an orderly manner will make the transition easier on you, and is less likely to bowl you over.
Spiritual vs. Physical Healing
The study text for this week covers important points. I’m not going to make them again here, but you know best what is legally allowed in your jurisdiction, and with your personal background, and what isn’t. In a lot of cases, physcial healing for others will not be among the things you are legally allowed to do, at least not outside your immediate family (and maybe not even there).
However, it’s up to you to find out what you will and won’t be allowed to do with your skills – once you have sufficient MOE skills in the first place, that is.
(I hope it’s obvious that at this stage, after these few lessons and a few weeks of practice, you’re in no way equipped to heal other people with MOE techniques, neither spiritually nor in any other way!)
Remember that whatever you do later in terms of healing might not just fall back on your own feet, and maybe in harsh legal terms, but will also fall back on the Modern Order of Essenes as a whole, and on spiritual healing in its many forms.
Keep this in mind, and stick to the rules of your local laws, please, no matter what you personally might think about them.
Feedback, please!
If you’ve made it this far without commenting (unlikely, I know, but just in case!! ๐ ), could you please head a bit further down and leave me your feedback on two questions:
- On the two variants of the Blessing Walk, and your experiences with them (anything you’ve noted is of help!).
- On the course structure, amount, and speed so far – ok? Too fast/much? Too slow/little? Anything else?
Thanks!
Further Resources
I already pointed you towards John Gilbert’s audio files in Unit 1. As you proceed with Step 3 of the Blessing Walk, you can come back to the audio file with the name “Walk.mp3” if you are so inclined.
Walk.mp3 covers the Blessing Walk, but all steps of it. I.e. you can either listen through all of it right away to get a feeling for where we’ll be heading, or you can simply stop the audio for now when it moves on to the next step of the Blessing Walk, and then listen further as we proceed.
In the zip file of the audios, there is also a file called “breath.mp3”. This file covers Steps 2 to 6 of the Healing Breathing Meditation, narrated by John Gilbert.
About the first two minutes of it contain Step 2, i.e. the step you practice in this unit. You can of course listen through the whole file now, but stop practicing at around this time. There’s no point in overdoing it and knocking yourself out, and we’ll get to all the other steps later anyway…
Finally, there is our own comment section from Unit 3 to read, if you shouldn’t already have done so. Not that many comments yet, but some interesting experiences in them.
Outlook
Unit 5 will go live on Sunday, April 13th, 2025.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback. ๐

Hi Regine,
Looking forward to this week’s practice! To be honest, I have been ‘cheating’ a little that I already started blessing plants from the beginning since where I walk there are not always people around, so I generally just bless anything that comes to my attention.
The healing breath I am still in the rudimentary stages but when I do so, I notice that sometimes when I imagine the light coming into me, I struggle sometimes to maintain balance. This also happens when I have done other rituals in ceremonial magic such as the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram and Middle Pillar (I have some background in Golden Dawn magic in the first grade), as well as the SOP I am learning now. I suppose it means that it works on some level but that my body is not sufficiently prepared to receive the energies ๐
I have a question too, is it better generally speaking to have eyes open or closed when doing the visualisations?
Thanks,
Janus
Regine says
Hi Janus,
Thanks for your comment. Cheating like this is perfectly fine! ๐
If the struggle to maintain balance is something you experience with other exercises as well, that sounds like a plausible explanation. If in doubt, you could ask JMG on Magic Monday, though. For the Healing Breath, I’d say take it slowly in this case. It doesn’t matter if you spend a few weeks more on any of the steps.
In my experience, eyes open or closed doesn’t matter for the MOE work. I tend to close mine if given the choice, since it makes visualisation easier for me, but have done the MOE work either way and haven’t noticed a difference. I.e. whatever works best for you – although, obviously, if you’re doing the Blessing Walk or other exercises while walking, the answer is pretty obvious… ๐

Hello, I am loving this course! Thank you so much for offering it. It is paced perfectly for me and has definitely improved my life. I prefer saying/thinking the words on my Blessing Walk. I find the ritual and the words, which flow much smoother now, help anchor my focus and elevate my vibration and love energy. It is possible I can get to the point where the feelings get there without, and it is a goal, but I’m not there just yet. ๐
Regine says
Hi Vicki,
Thanks a lot for your feedback, that’s very good to know, both about the course itself and the Blessing Walk. Much appreciated!
I’m glad you enjoy the work. It really is worth doing. Thank you for taking it on! ๐
