Welcome back to this ninth unit of the Master grade! If you should be new to all this, and have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s the start of this MOE course with more information.
It’s hard to believe we’re that far into the course already! It feels like yesterday that I started out publishing the first few lessons of the Apprentice grade… ๐
Anyway, here we are – and while not everybody will make it this far, I want to stress again that any practice of the MOE techniques and any study of the MOE material is worthwhile. I.e. if you’re just reading along out of curiosity, but have decided to stop at the Apprentice or Healer grade for now, that is fine, too. Over time, it will yield a lot of fruit – provided you continue with your MOE practice, that is! ๐
For those who are following along with the Master grade: Kudos to you! You’re almost there. Although, really, what is “there”? It’s not like there is an endpoint to this spiritual healing journey…
Endpoint or not, though, walking the path requires us to set one foot in front of the other. So let’s get going with this lesosn, shall we?
Coursework
- To Practice – Blessing Walk, Healing Hands, Foot and Hand Reflexology, Muscle Testing, Essene Healing Breath
Continue with the practices you’ve learned in the Candidate, Apprentice and Healer grades, ideally daily.
If you practice another form of meditation, e.g. discursive meditation (which you could use to meditate on the theoretical study texts of the Master grade ๐ ), you can use it instead of the Essene Healing Breath – the choice is yours.
- To Study – The Psychological Complexes
Study the section “The Psychological Complexes” of the Advanced Lessons, and/or use it as basis for your discursive meditation. As always, you are not supposed to blindly believe this text as gospel, but instead to study it thoroughly, contemplate it, and to come up with your own ideas and thoughts about it.
Online Version (only the section “The Psychological Complexes” – “The Spiritual Complexes” will be part of a later unit)
PDF Version (pages 31-33) - To Practice – Bridge of Love: Step Seven
Study the instructions for Practice Seven of the Bridge of Love and practice the Bridge of Love daily while you work on this unit.
(Also see my comments below about the instructions and the differences between the two versions.)
Online Version (only the section labelled “Practice Seven”)
PDF Version (page 14) - To Practice – Healing Voice
Study the instructions for the Essene Healing Voice and activate/practice it daily while you work on this unit.
Online Version (only the section labelled “THE ESSENE HEALING VOICE”)
PDF Version (section “The Essene Healing Voice”, pages 23 bottom to 24 top) - To Practice – Ear Reflexology
Continue to practice Ear Reflexology, ideally daily, as explained in a previous unit.
Online Version (only the part from “Essene Ear Reflexology” down to “The rest of the outer ear is the outer portion.”. The “Advanced Essene Healing Techniques” belong to later units.)
PDF Version (pages 26 and 27)
Reflection Question
While you do the work of this unit, take some time to reflect on the following question:
How has your perspective on healing changed throughout this course?
Meditation Topics
For the Master grade, again, there is a lot of meditation fodder in the study texts. I’m not going to pull these topics out of the study texts for you, though – that’s up to you to chew on for yourself!
But if you should need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- What is a Healing Voice?
- What role does or can voice play in healing?
- What is the role of sound in healing?
- What does your own voice need in order for it to heal?
- How does the psychological state of the person to be healed affect healing?
- How does the psychological state of the healer affect healing?
- How does healing affect one’s psychological state?
- How does healing animals differ from healing humans, and how does it not?
- How does healing plants differ from healing humans, and how does it not?
- How does healing minerals, stones and earth differ from healing humans, and how does it not?
- In which ways can animals, plants, minerals, stones, and earth heal?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Healing Voice
Of the hotchpotch of secondary healing techniques coming with the Master grade, I feel that the Healing Voice deserves to play a much bigger role than its being mentioned more or less in passing in the material seems to suggest.
(I’m calling them “secondary”, btw, not because they are all necessarily less important, but because they only play a minor role in the material and are by far not as well fleshed out as the Bridge of Love and even the Ear Reflexology.)
In fact, I’m fairly sure that the Healing Voice could be carved out into a tool equally powerful to the Bridge of Love. What I’m not sure about is whether it had never been fleshed out that much, or whether it once was such a powerful technique, but a lot of the details got lost in it being handed down to us (which would also raise questions about where it came from, who developed or got it and from where, what has changed in the instructions since their original form, etc – all questions we can’t answer from the MOE material available to us, alas).
Anyway, we’ve got to work with what we have… ๐ But if you should feel so inclined, after finishing this grade, putting some work into the development of the Healing Voice would imo be a worthwhile thing – and if you do, please share the results with us!
One thing to note in terms of practical details: The Healing Voice instructions give a specific order of the elemental symbols for activation, and this order is different from the one e.g. for the Healing Hands. Back when I first started the Master grade I asked JMG whether this was a mistake, or if not, why this particular order. His reply was that he isn’t sure why, but his teacher John Gilbert insisted on this order.
My recommendation is thus to use the elemental order as given for the Healing Voice. Of course, once you are done with the Master grade, you are free to experiment to your heart’s content… ๐
Finally, and just for the records: There are some claims in the text which make it sound that by just practicing the Healing Voice, you’ll instantly become a healer whose voice will calm all troubled waters, heal all illnesses, and raise the dead.
Well, not quite, but I trust you get what I mean after reading the section on the Healing Voice. ๐ While the Healing Voice has effects, and those effects can compound over time, it’s not an insta-cure (or insta-enlightenment, or the like) – so please use your common sense and don’t be disappointed if you shouldn’t notice much at first!
(Also, again, use common sense: Don’t approach people who are in “uncontrollable rage” just with your Healing Voice and expect them to insta-calm down. Instead, be smart and make sure to protect yourself first and foremost.)
Bridge of Love, Practice Seven
This Practice contains some important general considerations about spiritual healing, not just about the Bridge of Love, and not just about healing animals, plants, etc.
First, please note that the online text and the pdf text differ somewhat, and in this particular case, I’d strongly advise you to read both. (My understanding is that the online text is what JMG had received from his teacher John Gilbert, while the pdf contains some modifications by JMG.)
Secondly, I have two major qualms with the text:
The first of them is only in the online version, i.e. (presumably) the John Gilbert version. It very pointedly stresses our “duty” to heal, going as far as to say “We give up our right to choose whether to give this gift of healing or not…” – something with which I very strongly disagree!
Just like everybody (including plants, animals, etc) has the right to refuse healing, so does every healer have the right to refuse it in each instance.
By becoming a Modern Order of Essenes Master Teacher, you do not sign away your personal rights and boundaries! If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to (or can’t) perform a healing, even if it is explicitly requested, then don’t. Trust yourself, and simply don’t.
Thankfully, JMG (or whomever made the changes) has adapted the text in the pdf version accordingly.
The second qualm I have with the text applies to both online and pdf version: While as MOE Masters (or as humans in general, depending on how you read the text), we might have the right to heal animals, plants, minerals etc, I don’t think this gives us blanket permission.
It might, admittedly, not always be possible to ask a rock or a bee, a rose or a place whether they want to be healed.
(Or rather, it’s always possible to ask – but asking doesn’t guarantee you’ll get a reply, or you’ll be able to perceive and understand it!)
But sometimes when you attempt to heal such a being, you might feel some resistance, or get a feeling your really shouldn’t, or something the like. I take these as communications of the being you’re trying to heal (or the spirits guiding it) that healing isn’t welcome or appropriate.
When something like this happens, my advice is to back off and leave it be, simple as that.
Not everybody wants to be healed (in general, or by you, or right now, or in this situation, or …) – and plants and animals and stones have the same right to refuse a healing as people do. Thus while you might have the general right to heal, this doesn’t give you the right to push a healing where it is not welcome!
As I said, these are my two qualms with the text, and to me they are big qualms. Having said that, this section also contains some important and insightful nuggets of wisdom which don’t only apply to animals etc.
For example, the wisdom that it is up to the recipient how to use the healing energy you have relayed, and not up to you – and sometimes healing takes on a form which we haven’t anticipated, or don’t like at all. This can be hard to accept, but it’s important to keep this possibility in mind, and to only perform acts of healing if you will be able to accept all the potential outcomes, difficult as they may be for you.
Thus I’d advise you to a. read both the online and the pdf version, and b. to read this section both with a critical mind, and with an open mind (more than once if this should make it easier)!
The Psychological Complexes
Finally, this unit’s study text about the Psychological Complexes…
I don’t have much to comment on here, as I think the text stands for itself (and is much worth contemplating, mulling over, applying to your own life, and meditation upon!).
One thing is very important, though: Please take the cautious notes about psychological disorders and professional help seriously!
This isn’t just to protect yourself from all sorts of legal and other trouble – it’s also to protect the people whom you might harm by assuming you can heal them even though you lack the necessary skills and knowledge, and about the reputation of the Modern Order of Essenes, to whom you, as an aspiring Master, also have an obligation.
In short, don’t attempt to do things you’re not qualified for!
Outlook
In two weeks (on Sunday May 17th, 2026) we will continue with Unit 30.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope you enjoy this unit of the Master grade! ๐
