Welcome back to this second unit of the Master grade!
In today’s unit, we’re going to tackle one of the new things in the Master grade. No, it’s not the Bridge of Love yet – this will come further down the road, as you’ll benefit from having studied some other material first.
What you’re going to learn and practice in this unit is yet another reflexology technique. After having (diligently, I should hope… ๐ ) massaged your feet and hands so far, now we will turn towards another very sensitive body part: your ears…
Coursework
- To Practice – Blessing Walk, Healing Hands, Foot and Hand Reflexology, Muscle Testing
Continue with the practices you’ve learned in the Candidate, Apprentice and Healer grades, ideally daily.
- To Study – The Tree of Life, Part Two – Intention and Belief
Study Part 2 of John Gilbert’s “The Tree of Life”, and/or use it as basis for your discursive meditation. As always, you are not supposed to blindly believe this text as gospel, but instead to study it thoroughly, contemplate it, and to come up with your own ideas and thoughts about it.
Note that the lessons on the Tree of Life are not included in the MOE pdf files, i.e. you will have to read them online, or print out/reformat the online version from JMG’s Dreamwidth site for your personal use:
Online Version (only part 2, i.e. the upper half)
- To Practice – Ear Reflexology
Study the instructions on Ear Reflexology, and practice it (ideally daily) until you get the hang of it. See also my comments in the Commentary on how to combine the different modes of reflexology.
Note: Somewhat confusingly, the paragraphs in the pdf version are in a different order than the paragraphs in the online version. Also, the pdf version seems to contain one additional paragraph – which, promptly, is included twice… I’ll leave it to you to sort out the material and the most sensible order of it for yourself! ๐
Online Version (only the part from “Essene Ear Reflexology” down to “The rest of the outer ear is the outer portion.”. The “Advanced Essene Healing Techniques” belong to later units.)
PDF Version (pages 26 adn 27) - To Practice – Essene Healing Breath: Phase 4
From now on, continue to practice Phase 4 of the Healing Breath meditation, as introduced in the preceding unit (unless you practice another form of meditation, e.g. discursive meditation which you could use to meditate on the theoretical study texts of the Healer grade).
Reflection Question
While you do the work of this unit, take some time to reflect on the following question:
What do you hope or expect to get out of the MOE Master grade?
Meditation Topics
For the Master grade, again, there is a lot of meditation fodder in the study texts. I’m not going to pull these topics out of the study texts for you, though – that’s up to you to chew on for yourself!
But if you should need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- What functions do your ears have?
- What functions do your ears not have?
- How do your ears relate to the rest of your body?
- Are there different zones on your ears, and which ones?
- Which role does hearing play in your life?
- How would your life be without ears?
- How do your ears, or hearing, relate to your thoughts and to your mind?
- How do your ears, or hearing, relate to your spiritual life?
- How do you deal with it if your expectations are being fulfilled?
- How do you deal with it if your expectations are not being fulfilled?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Fortunately (for all of us ๐ ), there is only one thing to comment on today – some remarks about the Ear Reflexology, and how to integrate it with the rest of your practices.
All the rest should be routine by now, at least as much as your everyday life allows for any kind of routine. ๐
The material from the Tree of Life might or might not be already familiar to you from previous studies. But either way, I hope you will find some interesting and useful things in there! Next week, we will start with the Bridge of Love – and its first step will build right on what you have studied so far…
Integrating Ear Reflexology Into Your Practices
With the Ear Reflexology, you now have three different techniques of reflexology or body massage at your disposal: the feet, the hands, and the ears.
In an ideal world, you’d have ample time to actually practice and apply all three each day.
In real life, this is probably a bit too much to ask from most of you. ๐
Thus my common sense suggestion is this: To the extent possible, make Ear Reflexology a priority for now. If this means you can’t practice Hand and Foot Reflexology for the time being, then so be it. And if it means you can practice them, but only occasionally or less often than before, than that’s fine, too.
However, there is one exception: If one of the other kinds of reflexology has become really important to you, e.g. for physical reasons or to relax in the evening, I wouldn’t want to deprive you of it – after all, the core purpose of the MOE is healing, and if a technique helps you to heal, it’s worth keeping!
Thus in this case, I’d say continue to practice what does you good, but aim to practice the Ear Reflexology as often as possible, even if you can’t make it daily.
Either way, whenever you practice Ear Reflexology, you should do so on yourself first and foremost, until you get the hang of it and know what it does (and doesn’t do). This might take a while, but it’s time well worth investing.
Also, when you practice it, make sure to do so consciously. Study the explanatory text, and make it a habit to perceive the effects (both during the massage and afterwards) as well as you can.
In short: Don’t just massage your ears, but do your best to learn as much about Ear Reflexology (and about your own reactions and its effects) through practice as you can.
If you can’t do the ear massage daily, but do it consciously and with focus, you will still gain a lot. If you rub your ears daily, but the rest of your mind and attention is somewhere else during this time, you might get some effects from it, but by far not as many as you could have – and you’ll never know what they were in the first place…
Outlook
In two weeks (on Sunday February 8th, 2026) we will continue with Unit 23.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope you enjoy this second unit of the Master grade! ๐
