Welcome back to the fifth unit of the MOE Healer grade!
With this unit, we’re past the halfway mark of the Healer grade. (It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun, isn’t it? ๐ )
Before we start with the unit, I have a request: Last time, I asked whether you might want to continue with the Master grade or not. If you haven’t replied to this question yet, please do so now and let me know in the comments below.
Your answer will help me to plan my content for next year. Thanks!
Also, some general housekepeing:
We’re now in Unit 17. Overall, the Healer grade comprises 8 units. As you can easily check in your calendar, this means the Healer grade itself will run until the end of November.
In December, there is going to be one more post in preparation of the Healer attunement, covering all the relevant info you need to prepare.
Since I will take a winter break between the solstice and January 6th, the Master grade units (provided there is any interest) will then start in January.
For planning purposes, my current idea is to also offer Healer attunements in January. December is usually crowded enough for everybody as it is. Also, this way you have a bit more time to catch up with things if necessary.
We’ll discuss the attunements when we get closer. But I wanted to give you a heads up: Expect me to start asking for potential (January) dates for the attunements at some point in November! Ideally, I’d like to have the date(s) set before I go into my winter break.
And now, without further ado, on to this unit’s content! ๐
In this unit, we’re entering the last step of the Healing Breath meditation. And we’ll have a closer look at something which affects a lot of us: Stress!
Coursework
- To Practice – Blessing Walk, Healing Hands, Foot Reflexology, Muscle Testing
Continue with the practices you’ve learned in the Candidate and Apprentice grades, ideally daily.
- To Study – The Stress Cycle
Study “The Stress Cycle” in the way explained in the Intro to the Healer grade, and/or use it as basis for your discursive meditation. As always, you are not supposed to blindly believe this text as gospel, but instead to study it thoroughly, contemplate it, and to come up with your own ideas and thoughts about it.
Online Version (only the section “The Stress Cycle”)
PDF Version (section “The Stress Cycle” on page 9) - To Practice – Hand Reflexology: Continue as in last unit
Practice Hand Reflexology, ideally daily (see instructions and Commentary in Unit 16).
Online Version (From “HEAD ZONE โ The Fingers” up to and including the section titled “LEG ZONE”. The section “THE HANDS REFLECT THE ILLNESSES OF THE EMOTIONAL BODY” is part of a later unit. See Commentary to Unit 16 for the graphics in this section.)
PDF Version (Page 20 and 23, from “HEAD ZONE โ The Fingers” up to and including the section titled “LEG ZONE”. The section “THE HANDS REFLECT THE ILLNESSES OF THE EMOTIONAL BODY” is part of a later unit. See Commentary to Unit 16 for pages 21 and 22.) - To Practice – Essene Healing Breath: Step 9, “Move your consciousness into your window of opportunity”
Read Step 9 of the Healing Breath meditation, and start practicing it to the extent possible (see Commentary) – unless you practice another form of meditation, e.g. discursive meditation which you could use to meditate on the theoretical study texts of the Healer grade.
Online Version (Section “Stage Three: Step Nine โ Move your consciousness into your window of opportunity”)
PDF Version (Section “Stage Three: Step Nine โ Move your consciousness into your window of opportunity” on page 22; note that Phase 3 of the Healing Breath is covered in the Apprentice pdf and not in the Healer pdf!)
Reflection Question
While you do the work of Unit 17, take some time to reflect on the following question:
How are stress and healing related?
Meditation Topics
Note that for the Healer grade, there is a lot of meditation fodder in the study texts. I’m not going to pull these topics out of the study texts for you, though – that’s up to you to chew on for yourself!
But if you should need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- What is stress?
- How does stress affect you and your life?
- Can stress be positive?
- How do stress and healing interact?
- What creates stress?
- What could be a cycle of disease?
- What could not be a cycle of disease?
- What role do fear, irritation and regret play for you and in your life?
- What is your consciousness?
- How can you move or influence your consciousness?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Hand Reflexology
There isn’t anything new about Hand Reflexology in this unit, but I wanted to quickly check in with you nonetheless… ๐
Ideally, by now, you have studied the material from Unit 16, and have started to compare it with your own observations and perceptions – and might also have started to come to your own conclusions.
If so, and if you feel so inclined, please feel free to share anything related to it in the comments: questions, surprises, conclusions, things which match or don’t match, head scratching, aha moments, … Anything is fair game as long you want to talk about it! ๐
And if you haven’t gotten this far yet, you really should take a step back, revisit the last unit and get to work on your Hand Reflexology… ๐
There will be more about Hand Reflexology in the next unit. Until then, have fun exploring!
Healing Breath Meditation
Step 9 is the last step of the Healing Breath meditation in the Healer grade (although there will be two additions in later units of the Healer grade, so stay tuned if you practice this form of meditation).
I have to admit I don’t have to add much, if anything, to the material, simply because the Healing Breath meditation never rang with me, and thus I don’t practice it regularly.
But if you do, Step 9 is a step which can’t be forced or rushed – you’ll know when you are ready, and things will more or less move in this direction anyway. Also, don’t be disappointed if it is easier on some days than on others, especially in the beginning!
Oh, and one more thing: John Gilbert (I presume it was him who wrote the material in the form handed down to us) seems to have had a slight tendency to, uhm, over-excitement on occasion. ๐
While the Healing Breath meditation can presumably be used to achieve all the things he lists at the end of Step 9, some of them will take a considerable amount of time and practice – and some might be easier for you to achieve than others.
Thus make sure to practice the basics first, and for long enough, before you attempt any of the more advanced things listed at the end. Yes, this might mean it can take you several years to get there. But your abilities will develop when you are ready – and they will develop faster on a solid foundation!
Stress and Stress Cycles
As we’ve discussed before on occasion, the Healer grade is somewhat different from the earlier material in its stress on study, contemplation and reflection. Still, I hope that by now you’ve come to appreciate what it has to offer, because this is certainly not any less valuable than the more practical approach before!
The content of this unit strikes me as particularly important, since stress of all sorts and kinds plays such a large role in most people’s lives.
As usual, when studying the material, you don’t have to agree with it blindly. You don’t even have to agree with it at all. The important thing is to start your own reflections on these topics – and there is more than enough to reflect upon in this unit’s study text.
Try to not just turn this into some abstract study sessions, but to really apply these ideas (and whatever thoughts and ideas you come up with from your end, too!) to your life. Find suitable examples, come up with ways you can bring about changes, etc.
The more practical you can get, the better – and the more helpful and transforming.
(If you feel so inclined, you could also revisit the earlier study texts of the Healer grade to see what else they have to offer in light of this unit’s content…)
Further Resources
There are by far not as many resources (in the form of video or audio files) available for the Healer material as there were for the Candidate and Apprentice material, thus this section will be noticeably shorter for the units of the Healer grade.
For this unit, there is one audio file of John Gilbert specifically for Phase 3 of the Healing Breath meditation:
You can find it in the zip file which contains John Gilbert’s audio files, and it’s called meditation.mp3. It covers Phase 3 of the Healing Breath in full (i.e. for Step 9, the whole file is now relevant).
Always worth a read are the comment sections to JMG’s posts, accessible via the “Online Version” links in the Coursework section.
Our own prior comment sections are also worth a read, especially as comments continue to trickle in over time. Here’s the link to the comment section of Unit 16.
(And in case you shouldn’t have noticed yet, all my posts have at least one “category” assigned to them, and most also have “topics” assigned. Categories and topics are listed below the actual post text, i.e. you’ll see them if you scroll just a wee bit further down from here. Clicking on the topic “MOE Course” will get you straight to a list of all course posts.)
Outlook
In two weeks (on Sunday October 26th, 2025) we will continue this Modern Order of Essenes course with Unit 18 in the Healer grade.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope you enjoy the work of this unit. ๐

Yes, I would like to proceed to the Master grade. That said, I find that I spend almost all of my MOE energy on the healing hands and the Blessing walk.
Regine says
Hi Ridgely,
Thanks a lot for letting me know! ๐
I think itโs normal that everybody has their preferences and things which are nearer and dearer to them. You should make sure to not completely neglect the rest, to the extent possible in any given week, of course. (The Healing Hands and Blessing Walk together are very solid basic practice, i.e. youโre doing very well with them already!)
In particular, any form of banishing or cleansing ritual would be good, ideally done daily. If you donโt already do one, the MOE protective sphere is a good choice. If this doesnโt work for you, my suggestion would be what JMG posted as โJudson excerciseโ. Itโs extremely quick to learn, only takes a minute to do each day, and is surprisingly effective for this little effort.
Also, at least some foot or hand reflexology would be good as it helps you to clear the channels in your physical and energy bodies. If you canโt reliably allocate time for it, no problem: you can massage your hands in many situations without people even noticing, and it doesnโt have to be a formal massage with all the parts: simply rub where it feels best. The same goes for a quick foot rub e.g. in the evenings, in your armchair while watching the news or a movie, or while reading, or really as often as you can make it.
And as for the theoretical material, how about printing it and reading one paragraph each night before going to bed? Or placing the printout in the bathroom/toilet and reading a paragraph or two while youโre โbusyโ thereโฆ ๐
(somewhere in the bathroom, not into the toilet itself, of course! ๐ )
You donโt have to turn these things into rocket science – itโs a lot better to do them imperfectly than to not do them at all.
Hope this helps,
Regine

Hi Regine. So I have been working with one of the European Orders for decades, and a regular practice of a banishing/cleansing ritual is part of my daily work and has been for a long time. Not the sphere of protection, but the intent is much the same, and, as well, my daily meditation ends with something that is very, very close to the MOE sphere. Also a part of my practice for decades.
Regine says
Hi again,
That will very much do. Perfect!
Other than that, try not to let the other stuff (reflexology, the theoretical texts, …) fall by the wayside completely, and you should be fine.

A Quick question: n the Healer Manual (pg 10 PDF) under Emotional Complexes, Sub Heading 1-Uncondotional Love, Sub-Sub heading 4 it says “Practice the Blessing Walk and Healing Eyes of Love techniques. I may have missed it, but I can’t find any other mention of the healing eyes of love. What can we be told about this?
Regine says
Hi Ridgely,
Good question – alas, I don’t know the answer either. ๐
Apparently, John Gilbert used to tinker with the material a lot, and I presume that at some point, there was some technique or something called “Eyes of Love”. (It’s also referenced once in the Master material, and there is a reference to “Healing Eyes” in the Apprentice pdf. I.e. based on what we know about John’s tendency to play with things, it’s a fair guess that what is here called “Eyes of Love” went by more than one name over time…)
My best guess is that it’s a remnant of something very similar to the “Healing Voice”, which is introduced in the Master material, but more or less only in passing, too. But note that this is only a guess! In any case, either this stuff was never properly worked out in the first place, or, for some reason or other (more likely), it fell by the wayside.
I’d say once you’ve successfully worked through the Master material, come back to this comment and see if it sparks ideas for you to experiment for yourself… ๐
Sorry to not be of more help,
Regine
Paedrig says
Hello Regine! It’s funny that this unit has a major lesson about stress, because my life been full of it lately, especially around the holidays! In fact, this lesson arrived right in time for me to immediately start applying the tehcniques all the time, with lots of opportunity to practice managing stress by trying to alter my state within the various emotional complexes. Life is funny like that…
I have to say, the foot and hand reflexology has been a lifesaver. It has helped relieve so much physical and emotional stress. At first it was just a relief to the pain that’s always in my feet and hands, as I work on my feet and with my hands. It was only later I noticed it helping with all the aches and pains so common in my body I stopped noticing them until I started healing them. I will say that the various zones I press on my feet and hands don’t always correspond to the spots they’re supposed to on my body – my wires might be crossed, which is hilarious since I’m an electrician. But I don’t care. I just press where it hurts until the pain melts away. And then I finally noticed the emotional pain and stress, the worry and anxiety that was melting away. It’s actually been a really helpful tool for dealing with all the stress life has been trying to make me feel.
The entire lesson on the nature of stress is a rehash of something I heard long ago. It was a docuseries on Gaia, which is the only streaming service I use. It has shows on a wide variety of various esoteric and and occult topics, guided yoga and meditation oractices, though many of the shows get lost in conspiracies and often go down some… interesting rabbit holes. The show was called Rewired, by Dr. Joe Disoenza, and was about rewiring your mental patterns. He went deeply into stress and its horrible effects – weakened immune system, lowered toxin processing, slowed healing, slowed digestion… Why? Why would stress even exist? Because we needed it to survive.
Can stress be good? Yes, under only one circumstance. When yiu’re being actively chased by a predator. Suppose a saber tooth tiger were to attack one of our hunter gatherer ancestors. The stress response would kick in. What’s its purpose? To focus every fiber of the body and mind on the immediate need of survival. So here’s an interesting question: how much of the body and mind’s energy should be focused on this threat and running from it? All of it. Every bit of physical and mental energy needs to focus on surviving, on the immediate needs of the physical environment and that’s what stress does.
So all healing, maintenance, growth, toxin processing… it all gets shut down. Now, this is entirely appropriate when faced with a violent danger. You should stress until you make it to safety. Our ancestors survived to eventually create us because they had this available when faced with physical danger to muster every fiber and run until they reached the tribe or a cave. But then, when the threat was gone and they knew they were safe, they calmed down and the stress ended, their body went back to normal.
For us, their descendants, stress really isnt useful. We live in stress, and its supposed to be a temporary emergency response. We stress about work, deadlines, bills, holiday shopping, political nonsense… and really, the stress response doesn’t help us deal with any of these problems more effectively. We soak in it all the time and our body and minds malfunction because we aren’t meant to live like this long term. We develop chronic illnesses, physical and mental, and our entire being is out of balance. So the best thing any of us can do is to reduce our stress levels.
The techniqies we already use in our healing practice help with stress. The blessing walk takes our mind out of that mindset. The willing act of healing oneself, of desiring and believing in this healing, reduces stress. As does the daily practice of meditation, and I have always found the healing breath meditation to move stress right out of me.
I have decided to reficus in the healing breath meditation- I wasn’t getting much from discursive, and I feel like I’m supposed to finish this course of meditation before moving on. Besides, the healing breath is entering a critical time. John Gilbert was… a tad overexcited about what the window of opportunity can acheive. However, the combination of extendingthe time between breaths in this meditative state and holding an image in your mind of what you want, or opening up your mind to contact with your gods, has had some really incredible effects. First of all, its been great for juat melting aeay stress and worry. Secondly, the mental state is… interesting. It’s like being right on the edge of a trip (yes, that kind of trip, I had youthful indiscretions) but not quite going entirely in, not losing your grounded sense of self and reality, but starting to perceive things not of this world, but without losing your sight of this one. I have heard voices of my gods, though only a few utterances, sometimes images flashing. For the most part, I have focused on what I wanted in my life and it has helped me focus on what I truly want and focus less on what I lack. No astral projections, instant manifestations, of thundering divine presences, though. A lot of stress relief, for sure.
And this is more than just reducing cortisol and having better physical health – though that does matter. Its about not having our consciousness entirely focused on physical matter, where stress puts the focus, and being able to enter a world of intention and visualization, where you can start manifesting the results you want to see in life and actually focus your willpower and mind on solving the very problems that induce the stress. It lets us move our consciousness onto the astral level instead of being stuck on the material plane because we’re using an outdated predator response system, which forces us to look around for a physical danger, for the wrong situation.
I continue to try and remember to bless everyone with the healing walk technique. Again, the deep level of the healing breath helps a lot. My mind just constantly chatters on and loves to create vast images and stories. They’re fun, but disracting, and that may be part of my scatterbrained nature, and I feel like if I can get this down, I might gain a lot more focus.
I would love to move to the next level, but I have to be realistic – I’ll be lucky to catch up on the lessons in time for this attunement, though I will use the free time around the holidays to do so. I promise to be ready for the upcoming attunement and will comment on my time in the appropriate post, but I think for the time being I need to focus on maintaining the daily practice and rereading the existing lessons. My body, brain, and soul are telling me to slow down, and it would be a great contradiction to stress and burn out over something that’s supposed to make us slow down and eliminate stress!
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done with these lessons, Regine, it has been an incredible journey of growth and healing. May you have a blessed solstice break
Regine says
Hi Paedrig,
Thanks a lot for your detailed update! ๐
Yes, some of the seemingly innocent and not very powerful techniques of the MOE can have some profound effects indeed. I’m very glad to hear that the massages have been doing you so much good. I very much like them, too. And once you’ve started, it’s so easy to just rub a sore spot on your hand during the day… nobody will even notice. ๐
And also yes, some occult work like the MOE has a tendency to nib one in the butt with just the lessons which are needed at any given moment… ๐
I don’t think stress is not useful anymore at all. While real life-threatening situations are few and far between in our modern society, I think stress is an indicator of something not going as it should. For example, if a job is really “stressful”, then some aspects of it are probably not that stellar for us. Reducing the (subjective) stress is one approach to dealing with it – dealing with the job situation (i.e. that which is triggering the feelings of stress) is another. Sometimes one is more effective, sometimes the other, and sometimes it will take both approaches combined to effectively deal with the stress. Of course, all of this is easier said than done…
Glad to hear the healing breath meditation is going so well for you! As I said, it never rang with me, but people are different, and John Gilbert seemed to love it very much, too.
Nope, it wouldn’t be smart to unduly hurry, quite the contrary! Take all the time you need, the Master grade lessons will be there whenever you are ready. (Just as a teaser, though, they contain one more form of massage… ๐ ).
Uhm, we’ve already settled on a time for the attunement, as the deadline for timing feedback ended on Wednesday: It’s going to be on Sunday, January 11th, at 6pm German time. Will this work for you? If you can’t make it at all, let me know and we’ll figure something out.
You’re very welcome, but I really haven’t done much, mostly just reformatted other people’s efforts. You folks are the ones doing all the hard work! ๐
Thanks, and I wish you blessed holidays as well,
Regine
Paedrig says
Hi. So, having read the post, I see that the time and date have been set. That is fine and I will be prepared amd available for the attunement. I’ll work to catch up in my free time.
As for your point about stress – you’re quite correct. Stress does two things – alert us to a threat or problem, and narrow our physical and mental focus to deal with that. Stress still works great as an alert system! The problem is with the response – it’s pretty much geared towards physical threats, and most of us, hopefully, rarely encoumter those. So the stress response rarely helps us deal with the problems it successfully alerts us to. But still, it is worth realizing that it still helps us in half its function.
Regine says
Hi Paedrig,
You’re quite right that the stress response is getting way too much of a workout in our society. It’s not healthy for us to be in stress all the time. But there are still physical threats even in our time – for example, when driving a car and the car on the opposite lane is suddenly moving into yours, a healthy stress response (which focuses all we have on survival) is part of what saves our life… ๐
It’s also helpful in other situations, though, e.g. when you carry around a sick kid all night, and still have to be a functioning human being in the morning. Granted, it might be debatable whether this is still healthy (in such cases, we’d be much better off resting as soon as the kid finally sleeps). But still, for short amounts of time, I think a stress response can be helpful and healthy. It’s just the continuing “On” which isn’t good for us at all…
