Welcome back to Unit 9 of the Modern Order of Essenes course! If you are new to the course, it starts out here with Unit 1. And in order to see all the course-related posts on one page, click here.
Thanks a lot to all of you for your feedback about whether you’d like to continue the course past Apprentice! ๐
Since there is some definite interest, I will continue the course at least to the Healer level (we’ll cross the Master bridge once we’ll get there).
So… I’m going to start planning for the Healer course units very soon, and am willing to improve things if possible. Thus if you have any comments, requests, or feedback about the course so far, whether positive or negative, now would be the time to let me know!
As for the content of Unit 9, there are no new elements this time, but new steps to some of the established elements. The Blessing Walk in particular is slowly but surely expanding from the molds of your dedicated walks, and is growing some fine roots into the rest of your life… ๐
Enjoy!
Coursework
- To Study – “Essene Gnostic Beliefs”
Study the section “Essene Gnostic Beliefs”. You aren’t required to agree with all the ideas in it (or with any, for that matter), but to consider them seriously and (if possible) to come up with your own ideas and opinions.
For those of you who practice discursive meditation, this text should also give you at least a few topics!
Online Version (Only section “Essene Gnostic Beliefs”. Note that the headline of “Essene Gnostic Beliefs” is in a somewhat misleading smallish font – the numbered items 1. to 4. are part of this section.)
PDF Version (Section “Essene Gnostic Beliefs”on pages 28 bottom and 29) - To Practice – Essene Healing Breath: Step 5
Expand your daily Healing Breath meditation to include Step 5.
Online Version (Section “Phase Two: Step Five – Watch and listen to your breathing”)
PDF Version (Section “Phase Two: Step Five – Watch and listen to your breathing” on page 19) - To Practice – Blessing Walk: Step 6
Include Step 6 into your daily Blessing Walk.
Online Version (only Steps 1 to 6)
PDF Version (only Steps 1 to 6, on pages 11 to 14) - To Practice – Foot Reflexology: Continue as before
Continue giving yourself a daily foot reflexology treatment, as introduced in the Unit 8.
Online Version (Section “Daily Foot Reflexology Treatment”. The section below on treating others will be covered in a later unit.)
PDF Version (Section “Daily Foot Reflexology Treatment” on page 42 and the upper half of page 43.) - To Practice – Empower your Healing Hands: Continue as before
Continue to empower your Healing Hands in the morning. (It’s the last time – in Unit 10, we’ll finally apply the Healing Hands… ๐ )
Online Version (only the sections for empowering your Healing Hands, i.e. up to and including “Empowering Your Healing Hands, Step Three” – the rest is part of later units)
PDF Version (pages 31, 32 and the top of page 33, up to and including “Empowering Your Healing Hands, Step Three” – the rest is part of later units) - To Practice – Muscle Testing: Flexed Thigh Technique
Practice the next of the muscle testing techniques, the “Flexed Thigh Technique”. This can be getting a bit more acrobatic, depending on how you perform it – it’s perfectly fine to do it seated or lying down if this suits you better!
Online Version (only the section titled “Flexed Thigh Technique”)

Reflection Question
While you do the work of Unit 9, take some time to reflect on the following question:
What other levels of healing are there?
Meditation Topics
If you need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- Is patience a virtue – and why, or why not?
- How does the position your body is in affect its health?
- And how does it affect muscle testing?
- What could you muscle test on yourself, and what on others?
- What role does a dedicated Blessing Walk play in your life?
- Could your whole life be one large Blessing Walk?
- What does it mean to become established in anything?
- How do others experience or perceive your essence?
- What are your own core beliefs about healing?
- What are the differences between the visual and the auditive senses?
- What are the similarities?
- And how could they interact?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Blessing Walk
As I hinted at in the introduction, the Blessing Walk is slowly becoming less of a dedicated walk, and more of an integral part of your life. This brings its own challenges, of course…
It might seem easier to just “do” the Blessing Walk throughout your everyday life, instead of having to dedicate these sessions to it. And in a way, it is.
On the other hand, it’s a lot easier to forget about it during your daily routine. Thus I suggest that at least at this stage, you continue with your scheduled walks, but at the same time try to incorporate your Blessing Walk habits more and more into the rest of your life. This will take however long it takes, and that’s fine!
Also, you might notice that being on an “everyday blessing path” will be harder in certain situations than in others. Generally, it’s likely that the more “routine” a situation is, and the more “routine” the people involved are, the more likely you are to fall into established routines, i.e. out of your Blessing Walk state.
If this happens (and it will happen, and quite often!), don’t beat yourself up about it. None of us has to be perfect! Just do the best you can in each situation – and if your best is you forgot about it, or fell into another role, then so be it.
The important point at this stage is to not give up on the dedicated walks and instead jump headfirst into “yeah, of course I’ll do it all throughout my day, and I won’t need any reminders either” – and then within a few days or a few weeks, it has fallen by the wayside.
Thus the thing to work on right now is reminders: Establish something which reminds you at least once a day that you are on a continuous Blessing Walk (more often is fine). And for as long as is feasible for you, continue with the dedicated walks to further the habit.
Muscle Testing
Just in case you’re wondering: Yes, I skipped one muscle testing technique on purpose. We’ll get to it later. ๐
The Flexed Thigh Technique is the first one which can reasonably well be done on another person. It can also be done on yourself, and my suggestion is that this should be your main focus for now, unless you already have some experience with muscle testing.
Testing others works (lots of practitioners do it every day), but it has its own pitfalls: Most notably, you have to get your own ego and your own ideas about how things should be out of the way, or the test result will mostly tell you what you believe to be true. Of course, that’s not always as easily said as done – and the closer you are to the person being tested, and the more involved in the outcome, the harder it becomes!
To put it bluntly: If you want to perform muscle testing on others in a (semi-)professional setting, or in cases where the result is really important (e.g. important health treatments), you need to know what you’re doing, and need to be sure you’re doing it well.
If this should be a path you’re considering to walk, I strongly suggest you get some serious training by somebody who is qualified and can teach you accordingly, and where you learn to spot and correct your own mistakes.
On the other hand, muscle testing is a helpful technique for everyday issues which don’t require professional treatment. If people close to you can’t perform muscle testing on themselves for whatever reason (e.g. smaller kids), you can certainly use these techniques in the same way as you’d use other home remedies.
Thus if you want to work with others, the Flexed Thigh Technique is a reasonable starting place. You could try it just for fun on a friend or your partner:
Play with a range of possible questions, and not just about suitable foodstuffs! (E.g. ask them to strongly think about a number from 1 to 10, and then try to test out which it is.) Also let them muscle test on you, so you can experience the other side for yourself.
If nothing else, the two of you will have a fun hour, and you’ll learn some valuable things about muscle testing, its ranges and limits (and your own testing abilities!)…
Outlook
We’re in Unit 9 of this course now, and I wanted to give you a quick outlook on how things will go up to the Apprentice attunement.
The Apprentice grade of the course consists of 12 units, plus the subsequent attunement. If all goes according to plan, I will publish Unit 12 on Sunday, July 20th.
In the immediately following slot on Sunday, August 3rd, I’m planning to publish information about the attunement, how to prepare, etc.
Starting Sunday August 17th, we’ll then dive straight into the Healer grade, which will take us roughly the rest of the year. (At least that’s the plan for now, but I reserve the right to change things as needed.)
Of course, there will be the chance for you to receive an Apprentice attunement if you want! ๐
The attunements will be carried out as distance attunements, and it will be possible for more than one person to receive it at the same time. Each participant will simply need to do their part of the attunement at their own place, and at the agreed-upon time.
We’re also somewhat flexible with regards to scheduling:
Generally, I don’t think it’s smart to receive an NOE attunement before one has put in the necessary amount of preparation. But since the course has been going on for so long, you’ve done so much of the work over a longer timeframe that you’ll be well prepared to receive an attunement in, say, August, even if you shouldn’t have finished the work of Unit 12 by then.
Similarly, if for some of you we’ll only be able to find an attunement date after the Healer course has started, that’s also not a problem – you can start practicing the Healer material just fine, and then receive the Apprentice attunement while you do that.
Thus my suggestion would be that we aim for Apprentice attunements in August and/or September. I’m willing to offer more than one date if necessary, but would of course much prefer it if we could cover all of you with as few dates as possible. ๐
We’ll figure out the actual dates and times once we get a bit closer. But if you want, you can have an initial glance at your schedule to see when things might fit in for you.
For starters, two questions to narrow down the options:
- Are you in a timezone in Eastern Asia, Australia or New Zealand etc, i.e. well ahead of Germany, or at the opposite side of the world?
- Would Sundays in general work for you, depending on the actual date, of course, or will you need an attunement on another day of the week?
Further Resources
I usually haven’t pointed them out separately, but when you read the MOE material online on JMG’s dreamwidth site, there are comment sections below each entry, and some comments are well worth reading.
You’re already aware of John Gilbert’s audio files. The relevant files for the Healing Hands and the foot reflexology have been listed in the respective units where the work was introduced, and you can easily look them up in the past units if you are so inclined.
There is a new audio to dig into today, AE-intro.mp3. In its first roughly 5:50 minutes, John Gilbert narrates the “Essene Gnostic Beliefs” you are supposed to study in this unit. The rest of this audio covers the section “The Essence of Deity” which will make its appearance in a later unit, but there is no harm in listening to the whole file right away if you should want to do so.
As you proceed with Step 6 of the Blessing Walk, you can come back to the audio file with the name “Walk.mp3” if you are so inclined.
Walk.mp3 covers the Blessing Walk, but all steps of it. I.e. you can either listen through all of it right away to get a feeling for where we’ll be heading, or you can simply stop the audio for now when it moves on to the next step of the Blessing Walk, and then listen further as we proceed.
In the zip file of the audios, there is also a file called “breath.mp3”. This file covers Steps 2 to 6 of the Healing Breathing Meditation, narrated by John Gilbert.
About the first 7:40 minutes of it contain the Healing Breath up to Step 5, i.e. the steps you practice in this unit. You can of course listen through the whole file now, but stop practicing at around this time. There’s no point in overdoing it and knocking yourself out, and we’ll get to all the other steps later anyway…
Finally, there is, as usual, our own comment section from Unit 8 as a valuable resource.
Outlook
Unit 10 will go live on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope the MOE practice is enriching your life! ๐
