Welcome back to Unit 6 of the Modern Order of Essenes course! If you are new to the course, it starts out here with Unit 1.
I hope you enjoyed the first of the Apprentice material in the last unit. In this unit, we will start practicing a somewhat weird technique: muscle testing. If you have never done it before, it’s fun and can be very useful. And, of course, the practices you’ve learned so far will continue.
Coursework
- To Practice – Essene Healing Breath: Continue as before
This week, we’re taking a breath 😉 – simply continue with the Essene Healing Breath practice as in the last unit, i.e. the full sequence up to Step 3, and don’t forget about the withdrawal! If you should be lagging behind a bit with your Healing Breath practice, this is also a good chance to catch up…
Online Version (Up to section “Phase One: Step Three – Extend your breathing”)
PDF Version (Up to section “Phase One: Step Three – Extend your breathing” on page 18/19) - To Practice – Blessing Walk up to Step 4
Your second task in this unit is to include Step 4 into your Blessing Walk.
Online Version (only Steps 1 to 4)
PDF Version (only Steps 1 to 4, on pages 11 to 13) - To Practice – Empower your Healing Hands
Continue to empower your Healing Hands in the morning.
Online Version (only the sections for empowering your Healing Hands, i.e. up to and including “Empowering Your Healing Hands, Step Three” – the rest is part of later units)
PDF Version (pages 31, 32 and the top of page 33, up to and including “Empowering Your Healing Hands, Step Three” – the rest is part of later units) - To Study – Essene Kinesiology: Overview and Theory
Study the introductory text to the kinesiology (muscle testing) practices.
Online Version (only the section titled “Essene Kinesiology: Overview and Theory”)
PDF Version (“Lecture Three: Essene Applied Kinesiology” on page 45; only the text above the section title “Looped Fingers Technique”) - To Practice – Muscle Testing: Looped Fingers Technique
Practice the first of the muscle testing techniques, the “Looped Fingers Technique”.
Online Version (only the section titled “Looped Fingers Technique”)
PDF Version (Section “Looped Fingers Technique” on pages 45 and 46)
Reflection Question
While you do the work of Unit 6, take some time to reflect on the following question:
How can spiritual healing be accomplished or facilitated?
Meditation Topics
If you need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- Can slowness advance your progress?
- Can slowness hinder your progress?
- Why would you bless inanimate objects?
- Might inanimate objects bless you – and how?
- What are the differences between natural objects and man-made objects?
- What are the differences between natural objects and man-made objects with regards to blessings?
- Can inanimate objects heal spiritually?
- Can inanimate objects help you heal spiritually?
- What can your body tell you which you don’t consciously know?
- What’s the difference between your conscious and your subconscious knowledge?
- Where is your subconscious located?
- What kind of answers can you get from your subconscious?
- What strengthens your muscles, and what weakens them?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Blessing Walk, Step 4
Step 4 of the Blessing Walk introduces “entities to be blessed” which you might not have had on your radar – inanimate objects. Note that the instructions talk about both man-made and natural objects, and about certain things which aren’t “objects” in the strict sense like “dirt”, i.e. which don’t have clearly defined borders. When you practice Step 4 of the Blessing Walk, make sure you incorporate objects of all these different kinds.
Also, remember that the steps of the Blessing Walk accumulate, i.e. to the best of your ability, you should also bless humans, animals and plants during each of your walks.
With the inclusion of inanimate objects in Step 4, I also want to encourage you to try out, yet again, both versions of the Blessing Walk: the more “verbal” one, and the heart-centered one, as explained in Unit 2. You might be surprised to note that one of them works better for blessing some entities, while the other one works better for others.
(You might also note that the version you perceived as “easier” or “more natural” back then is now a bit harder or feels less natural, and vice versa, or any other changes. If so, I’d appreciate you reporting those in the comments, as I’m still collecting data about the more heart-centered version in comparison… 😉 )
Muscle Testing
If you have never done any kind of muscle testing before, it might seem weird at first. Please give it a chance anyway – it really is a great way of checking certain things!
Among other things, muscle testing is helpful to determine what your body needs (e.g. whether a certain kind of food or drink is agreeable to you at the moment of testing).
There are also other ways to use it. To the best of my knowledge, it is the most reliable when applied to things which relate to your physical body, or which are stored in your “body memory”. For example, I know of a person who is very experienced with muscle testing and uses it to retrieve things which she knows or has encountered, but can’t remember at the current moment. Once you’ve gotten the hang of the method, it’s worth experimenting in this direction.
Also to the best of my knowledge, muscle testing as a divinatory method (to learn things not related to yourself, your own body, and your past experiences) can lead to misleading results, as it is more heavily influenced by yourself than other divinatory methods (i.e. by your own wishes, hopes, etc). But your mileage may vary, and again, it might be worth experimenting – just keep in mind that any results might be more biased than you are used to from other divination methods…
If you have done muscle testing before, you might have done so with another method. In fact, the MOE material contains quite a few methods of muscle testing. Over the course of the next few units, you will have the chance to try out all of them (plus one which isn’t included in the material, but which I prefer).
Some of these various methods work better for some people than for others. Thus I’d encourage you to give each of the methods a try, even if you already know other ways of muscle testing. You might be able to expand your repertoire that way.
And if the looped fingers technique should not work well for you, then don’t throw in the towel – there will be other methods later, and one of them might be more up your alley. For now, just keep on practicing to gain experience!
Further Resources
There’s nothing new in the resources section this time, apart from the link to Unit 5’s comments section – this section includes the same references as in Unit 5 simply for your convenience. (The Blessing Walk audio also covers Step 4, though, i.e. you can listen a bit further ahead in it.)
I already pointed you towards John Gilbert’s audio files in Unit 1. As you proceed with Step 4 of the Blessing Walk, you can come back to the audio file with the name “Walk.mp3” if you are so inclined.
Walk.mp3 covers the Blessing Walk, but all steps of it. I.e. you can either listen through all of it right away to get a feeling for where we’ll be heading, or you can simply stop the audio for now when it moves on to the next step of the Blessing Walk, and then listen further as we proceed.
In the zip file of the audios, there is also a file called “breath.mp3”. This file covers Steps 2 to 6 of the Healing Breathing Meditation, narrated by John Gilbert.
About the first four minutes and 15 seconds of it contain Step 2 and 3, i.e. the steps you practice in this unit. You can of course listen through the whole file now, but stop practicing at around this time. There’s no point in overdoing it and knocking yourself out, and we’ll get to all the other steps later anyway…
The file AE-L1.mp3 contains instructions for empowering the Healing Hands (up to about minute 6:45).
Note that this audio explains certain (smallish) details slightly different than the written text, but both version should work fine.
My bigger issue with it comes further on in the audio file, especially in the remarks about ethics, and also some comments about “teaching clients”. I’ll have more to say about those parts in a later unit. For now, if you should decide to listen through the whole file and not just the first few minutes about empowering your Healing Hands, please keep in mind that some of what John Gilbert says here might be well-intended, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the right thing to do. 😉
Finally, there is our own comment section from Unit 5 to read, if you shouldn’t already have done so. Not that many comments yet, but again some interesting ones you might enjoy.
Outlook
Unit 7 will go live on Sunday, May 11th, 2025.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope you enjoy the work of this unit!:-)

I have found that this path seems to demand that one heal and improve oneself. I’ve had a relationship I thought was my dream come true unravel – in the best way possible, as my former partner was incredibly honest about her inability to move past her ex, and my need to be more centered within myself and stop seeking external validation before being in a relationship. After some serious soul searching, I realized she was right on both counts, as much as it hurt to admit. I also had a long standing fight over a house finally resolve – as soon as I could swallow my pride and stop the cycle of conflict I’ve been locked in. It seems this path of healing demands constant self improvement – but also provides the means of moving forward.
Activating my healing hands has been an interesting experience. I can feel the emergies moving through my arms, in a very direct and visceral way. I can almost see them moving between my hands. I also made the mistake of failing to dissipate my healing hands one time, and I swear my hands started to tingle and get sore until I closed my energy centers.
The blessing walk has become almost completely nonverbal. I guess I moved past that block. Your comment about nonhumans sometimes not wanting a blessing threw me for a loop – I guess I figured only humans would be foolish enough to turm down blessings! And then I thought of how ornery my cat can be sometimes, and of course they can! I just put out the offering of a blessing to the world around me. I definitely have trouble giving my energy to nonliving objects, though – I guess that’s the next block to move past.
A final qiestion – I know I completely missed the opportunity for apprentice attunement – is there any chance of you offering a late, remedial attunement for those of us who showed up late? It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for all your hard work doing this!

Hi Paedrig,
Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment! 🙂
The practical thing first: There hasn’t been a dedicated Apprentice attunement in relation to the course yet – the attunement will take place once we’re done with the Apprentice material. This will be towards the end of July, i.e. I will offer attunement options probably at the end of July or in August.
If necessary, I’ll offer more than one slot, but we’ll figure that out once we get a bit closer to the end of the Apprentice material.
For the people who started later or who take longer for whatever reason, I’ll still be around at a later time – or it might be an option to take the attunement even if one hasn’t fully finished the coursework. Again, we’ll figure this out when we get closer… 😉
Also, we’re three Master Teachers now who share in offering regular attunements (Kyle, Matthew and me), and we try to offer attunement possibilities somewhat regularly. It’s no problem at all if somebody takes this course here at whatever time, but is then attuned (or re-attuned, just for good measure!) by one of the other Master Teachers – the energies will work just the same. 🙂
(I’m not saying this will affect you – just putting the info out here in case other people read it later and might be wondering…)
I.e. either way, there will be more than enough attunement possibilities for everybody who wants to be attuned. 🙂
And in relation to the course, as noted above, I’ll get back to you folks about the attunement options ahead of time – please keep an eye either on the course posts here, or on the emails I send through the mailing list.
Now, about the rest…
> I have found that this path seems to demand that one heal and improve oneself. […] It seems this path of healing demands constant self improvement – but also provides the means of moving forward.
Yes. Just this.
It’s a bit hard to explain beforehand, but this is what it really is about: improve yourself, and the world will also improve. Rinse and repeat. 😉
I’m glad to hear you found these experiences “in the best way possible”, even if there might have been some initial pain or discomfort involved!
About the Healing Hands: The energy can indeed be very tangible. (And as a note to others: If you shouldn’t feel anything, that’s fine, too. It can take a while to perceive this, and not everybody perceives things the same way. The energies will work just fine, even if you don’t feel anything!)
If the sensations get too much, shut it down like you did. Same if the energy overall or its effects become overwhelming. Other than that, having healing energy run through oneself isn’t necessarily a bad thing… 😉
(And if anybody else is reading this, I’d be interested in your experiences: Is the energy also getting rather strong? Too much? Or do you barely notice any effects, or not at all?)
About the Blessing Walk:
Thanks for your data point about verbal vs. nonverbal.
I wouldn’t call refusing a blessing “foolish”. There could be very good reasons for this. E.g. somebody might already have a lot going on energetically, and be close to overwhelm. Getting uninvited blessing or healing energy on top of that could, in some situations, be the straw which breaks a camel’s back. There is something like “too much of something good”… 😉 Also, not everybody is a good fit to everybody else, and sometimes the energies of a certain person, no matter how well-meaning they are, just don’t fit well. And finally, everybody is free to make their own mistakes, hard as it can be to watch… (and yep, this includes animals and plants!)
The nonliving objects: Have you tried blessing them explicitly? My recommendation is to go for practical objects like printers, your computer, your car, your toilet – stuff which makes a positive difference in your life and you already have a connection to. Just offer it a blessing consciously, outside of your regular Blessing Walk. Do this for a few days, and it’ll probably become easier.
(If you don’t know how to go about it, I posted a four-part series called “Blessing – How to Get Started in 9 Simple Steps”. It starts out with blessing non-living objects. This is more the conscious raise-your-hands-and-say-it kind of blessing, but maybe it sparks some ideas…)
Thanks for taking on the work, and for reporting back! 🙂

Actually, just to clarify because it occurred to me we had thrown two things together: There is a difference between empowering one‘s Healing Hands and activating them.
Empowering is done first thing in the morning (or, well, asap in the morning). After empowering, one does usually not deactivate one‘s Healing Hands! The energy is supposed to keep flowing throughout the day.
We‘ll tackle using the Healing Hands in a later unit (including the process of „activating“ and „deactivating“ in the MOE texts). After such a Healing Hands session, they are then deactivated. The point of this is not so much to keep the energies from flowing (they should still be flowing in the background from having been empowered in the morning), but to close the connection between the practitioner and client, as this connection is no longer needed and might be detrimental.
I.e. if somebody is following along with the course, at the current stage, the Healing Hands shouldn‘t be deactivated at all, just empowered in the morning.
If somebody is further along in the Healing Hands practice, of course (s)he should follow the instructions and deactivate after using them.
But if the energy really should be too strong just after empowering them, then deactivating the flow might be a stopgap until one is more used to the healing energies and can deal with them. I.e. it would be good to push out the deactivation a bit further each day. In general, the less one fights the energies because they are „too much“, the easier they are to bear…
I hope this helps,
Regine

I think I’ll start blessing my truck. It was my grandfather’s, and I have a deep connection to it – and she does need constant love and attention. Blessing it every time I work on is probably a good idea as well. Thinking of objects this way does help – I actually build things for a living, and I like the idea of blessing everything I build. Thanks for the new perspective.
Regine says
You’re very welcome, and if you build things for a living, I’m sure you understand what kind of difference a “blessing”, even if it’s “just” labouring in love and attention, can make on an inanimate object! 😉
Give it a try with your truck, and I think you won’t be disappointed (and report back if you want! 🙂 ).
