Welcome back to this eleventh unit of the Master grade! If you should be new to all this, and have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s the start of this MOE course with more information.
Today’s course post is the second-to-last – not just in the Master grade, but for the whole course. And as you will see further below, we’re slowly but surely starting to wrap things up, to dot the final missing i’s and cross the final missing t’s…
Btw, if you haven’t replied to my recent request about attunement dates and MOE-related questions and topics yet, please head over to it and do so now – while the deadline for the former has technically passed, I’m still open to requests and will try to schedule attunements according to people’s needs.
Done? Awesome! ๐ Then let’s hop straight into this unit’s work:
Coursework
- To Practice – Blessing Walk, Healing Hands, Foot and Hand Reflexology, Muscle Testing, Essene Healing Breath
Continue with the practices you’ve learned in the Candidate, Apprentice and Healer grades, ideally daily.
If you practice another form of meditation, e.g. discursive meditation (which you could use to meditate on the theoretical study texts of the Master grade ๐ ), you can use it instead of the Essene Healing Breath – the choice is yours.
- To Review – Healer grade
While you do the work of this unit, review the material of the Healer grade, i.e. Units 13 – 20 (all MOE Units can be found here).
- To Practice – Bridge of Love: Practice Nine
Study the instructions for Practice Nine of the Bridge of Love and practice the Bridge of Love daily while you work on this unit.
(Also see my comments below about the instructions and about Practice Nine in the Commentary.)
Online Version (only the section labelled “Practice Nine”)
PDF Version (page 17 and 18) - To Study – Healing Presence
Study the instructions for the Essene Healing Presence.
Online Version (only the section labelled “THE ESSENE HEALING PRESENCE”)
PDF Version (section “The Essene Healing Presence” on page 24) - To Practice – Healing Voice
Continue to activate the Essene Healing Voice daily, as introduced in Unit 29, and practice/use it as you see fit.
Online Version (only the section labelled “THE ESSENE HEALING VOICE”)
PDF Version (section “The Essene Healing Voice”, pages 23 bottom to 24 top) - To Practice – Ear Reflexology
Continue to practice Ear Reflexology, ideally daily, as explained in a previous unit.
Online Version (only the part from “Essene Ear Reflexology” down to “The rest of the outer ear is the outer portion.”.)
PDF Version (pages 26 and 27)
Reflection Question
While you do the work of this unit, take some time to reflect on the following question:
Do you consider becoming a Master Teacher? Why, or why not?
Meditation Topics
For the Master grade, again, there is a lot of meditation fodder in the study texts. I’m not going to pull these topics out of the study texts for you, though – that’s up to you to chew on for yourself!
But if you should need fodder for your discursive meditations beyond what you have found in this unit’s texts, the following topics should give you something to work with:
- What has your work on the Healer material taught you?
- How has your view on this material changed?
- What is a Healing Presence?
- How can presence help in healing?
- How can presence hinder in healing?
- In which stages does healing happen?
- Are there exceptions to these stages or to this order?
- What is the purpose and role of consent in healing?
- Are there cases where it’s appropriate to you to heal without consent?
- What does it mean to you that this course will be coming to an end soon?
And if you have enough ideas on your own and don’t need any from this list, that’s even better!
Commentary
Some General Remarks On This Unit’s Content
As you can see, this unit is rather slim on actual stuff to study and to practice – there is almost nothing new included anymore. This was a deliberate choice of mine. For the last few units in the Master grade, I wanted to wind things down a bit, for two reasons:
a. to give you more breathing room in case you still need to catch up on older stuff, and to leave enough space for review and to focus on the things you feel need focusing on. And b., because there has been a ton of material included in this course, and in particular a ton of practices. Just practicing what you’re supposed to practice daily is a lot of work.
I thus decided to stretch the Master material over more lessons rather than less (it could also have fit into ten or even eight if I had pushed it). My hope is that this leaves you the space to wrap things up, review stuff again, and finish what needs finishing – but also to enjoy the Master material in particular, and the Modern Order of Essenes work in general and all the changes and new things it has brought you so far! ๐
Review of the Healer grade
Your reivew of the Healer grade should follow the same broad guidelines as your recent review of the Candidate and Apprentice grades.
Healing Presence
The Healing Presence isn’t an actual practice on its own, but a state which one can attain as MOE Master and after sufficient practice.
(As an aside, the online and pdf version differ again, and the pdf version is a tad clearer imo, albeit the actual differences are minor.)
I have to admit if it would have been me, I wouldn’t have included this section. That’s not because I think it’s a Big Secret or anything the like. It’s also not because I think it’s essentially wrong.
The reason I wouldn’t have included it is because it tempts people into ego trips (“I must be the greatest because I achieved Healing Presense right after the attunement!”) and into comparisons (“Yeah, but I got there even earlier!”), it can also sow self-doubts (“I’ve been attuned for several months now, have practiced diligently, and I still don’t have Healing Presence. Will I ever get there?”) and be the basis for fake humility and similar things (“Nah, I’m not after achieving Healing Presence, you know, I’m just on the path to have some fun.”).
I thus find this section more of a hindrance than helpful.
(Unless you’re willing and prepared to work on some of your triggers and ego traps, in which case this section might prove fruitful… ๐ )
Also, while this isn’t a hard and fast rule, in most cases the Healing Presence of an MOE Master is going to build up over time. This isn’t an on/off switch – no Healing Presence up until this morning, the switch flipped right after lunch break, now and in all future Healing Presence.
Instead, constant practice of the Modern Order of Essenes and reception of the attunements has effects over time and causes shifts and changes.
My suggestion thus is to put this whole Healing Presence thing aside, and instead focus on your work. Whatever Healing Presence you’re going to achieve is only going to build itself up when you put in the effort!
Bridge of Love, Practice Nine
Again, there are some differences between the online text and the pdf text. In this case, though, they are somewhat minor:
First, in preparing the pdf file, somebody (presumably JMG) has removed some references to other practices. Some of them are organizations or networks within the same broad framework of tradtions as the MOE which existed back then, but, to the best of my knowledge, don’t exist anymore. Others, most notably Kriya Yoga, were practices unrelated to the MOE, but which John Gilbert taught (and presumably introduced into the text because he found them helpful).
(“Spiritual Alchemy”, just in case it isn’t clear, refers to the Order of Spiritual Alchemy, yet another of the traditions associated with each other which JMG inherited from John Gilbert.)
Some other smallish changes clean up the text, and stress the importance of consent a bit more than it already was.
Keeping this in mind, both the online and the pdf version are fine to work with.
Apart from these textual differences, I also have some general comments on this practice:
First, it’s worth noting that not every MOE Master will ever get into a position or situation where (s)he is asked to perform these kinds of healing – and this is fine.
This is advanced stuff, and I mean “advanced” not only for the practitioner (see below), but also for the person being treated. To recognize and to acknowledge such conditions in oneself, and then to ask for help, is no small feat. Thus not many people will ever ask for these kinds of healing.
Secondly, some of these conditions require professional treatment, and not just for legal reasons. E.g. something like a stroke requires medical attention, and pronto – please do not ever be tempted to treat a serious physical or psychological condition only with your MOE tools!
(If you are a qualified and licensed professional, this judgement is of course up to you. For everybody else, assuming consent is given, it’s ok to use MOE techniques in addition to professional healing – but not as substitute, and most definitely not if it should be against the law in your jurisdiction.)
Thirdly, this section might seem a bit weird on first reading. My best guess is that ongoing changes and additions over time, potentially by different people, haven’t exactly helped with clarity. ๐
But there are some very valuable lessons in this section. The first, obvious one, is on consent (which is really stressed here, and also the downsides of no-consent explained).
The second, a bit more subtle, is about a sequence of healing, or stages of healing. This in particular, but also other details from this section, are very well worth studying and contemplating, as there is a lot to learn there (and not just for the kinds of cases this section refers to!).
Finally, a bit further above I called this practice “advanced”. By this, I don’t just mean that it’s an advanced technique which requires appropriate skills and practice of the practitioner (also that, too).
It’s also advanced in that it calls for a rather reflected and self-aware healer. Without going into many details, there are a lot of ego traps for the healer in such situations – and some of them are hard to spot, usually the ones we have the most difficulty with, or are still blind to ourselves.
I’d thus encourage you to read this text another time, and to watch out for any ego traps you might encounter, or for anything it triggers in you. There will potentially be more than one. And if you don’t find any, it’s most likely not because you are more reflected than the average person, but because you are less so… ๐
Finally, one tip for dealing with these ego traps in your journey as MOE Master:
Just as an example, let’s say you’ve identified a tendency in yourself to “heal” people even if they don’t want it. Of course you don’t do this (or rather I hope you don’t!), because you value consent, but the urge is still there.
Now each time you catch such an urge to heal even against a person’s will, ask yourself what this tells about you. Where do you refuse healing? Why do you feel the need to push others into healing? Why do you think you know better than them what’s good for them?
Forget what it says about them! Instead, each time the impulse comes up, focus very consequently on yourself and on your own issues – sweep your own dirty corners instead of the other person’s!
Over time, this will become a habit (admittedly a somewhat uncomfortable one), and doing so regularly will speed up your process on the journey as Master healer.
Outlook
In two weeks (on Sunday June 14th, 2026) we will continue with Unit 32 – the final unit of the Master grade.
Until then, I’m looking forward to your comments and your feedback, and I hope you enjoy this unit of the Master grade! ๐
