So, what is there to say about me?
I always want to understand how things work and why, and to get to the bottom of them: unwrapping their essence. It took me quite a while to figure out, but hey: that are structures and connections 🙂
And I like to transfer things: complex contexts into simple storylines, ideas into actions.
Always very curious, I like to learn and understand new things and viewpoints. I genuinely experience diversity, variety, and connecting different disciplines and perspectives as a gain and real food for thought.
I love to let my imagination run free and to find ways to make things possible. Nothing better than an evening with a your-kind-of-crazy person to laugh and think of ideas and concepts as crazy as they might seem – and to question what is possible.
Disciplines or boxes never really mattered to me: there is so much to learn and to explore, that limiting to one of them never felt right.
After school (about 20 years ago), I took an internship at an online platform for arts by a local start-up, leading to another internship at a collaborating start-up for communication and network software. This was an entirely new world of possibilities for me at that time, and young and enthusiastic as I was, I started studying „Computer Visualistics“ (computer science).
About one year later I understood that – despite being fascinating – this was not the right way for me to go, and I changed gears. After finishing my Bachelor in History of Arts and Multimedia, I attended an international MBA programme.
When one of the visiting professors of marketing offered me an internship at a global ingredient supplier for the food, beverage and scent and care industry, I didn’t have to think twice to see this as a great opportunity. I have been staying with the company for more than ten years in different roles in marketing and category management for beverages, with the possibility to develop, learn in various areas, and meet interesting people from around the globe.
Despite the fact that I have rarely used any of the things I learned at university in my work life, I perceive the diversity of what I have learned as a personal and professional gain.
I genuinely enjoy looking at things from different perspectives and getting other people to join. I am very open towards new things, always happy to learn and to explore, to meet people, and to understand interrelations. I love creating – both with my hands and my head – and to move things forward, get them into action and to make a difference.
I believe in equality, diversity and that a good portion of humour makes life a lot better. And that good relationships (no matter if in a private or a business context) are based on trust and respect.
I’m intrigued by traveling, art, getting in touch with different cultures, by nature, good food and even better conversations.
I’m passionate to understand the bigger picture, to learn, and to find solutions. I love being inspired and inspiring others, having genuine experiences and being around people who bring out the best of me.
Sometimes I smile at random people in the street – just because I love to see them smiling back (and to see the short glance of confusion before they do). But most of my free time I spend outside with my dog Polly. And I seriously don’t appreciate techno covers of rock classics.
Additionally, I do seem to be attracted to writing very long and complicated sentences – but I swear I am trying to improve 😀
